Raster to vector, explained
JPG and JPEG refer to the same raster image format. JPEG compression reduces image data and can leave visible blocks or noise around edges. JPG to SVG conversion traces the shapes it finds in that source. It does not recover the original layers, fonts or details that compression has removed.

Better input, a better starting point
Each compressed copy may lose useful edge detail. Use the highest-quality original available, especially for lettering and logos. If a clean PNG version exists, compare that source before choosing which image to vectorize.
JPEG does not store transparency. A logo photographed on paper includes the paper, shadows and surrounding objects as image content. Crop the source and improve lighting or contrast in your image editor before uploading. Conversion is not a promise of automatic background removal.
Flat graphics and clear line drawings usually offer simpler shapes to inspect than photographs. Hair, fabric, reflections and gradients can turn into complex regions. For a realistic photograph, keeping the JPG may serve your project better than tracing every detail.

No. JPG and JPEG are two filename extensions for the same image format. Both follow the same upload and vectorization workflow in Pixel2Vector.
You can upload a JPG photograph, but tracing interprets continuous tones as shapes. Expect a different representation of textures, shading and fine detail. Preview the output before deciding whether it suits your illustration or design project.
Do not rely on conversion alone to separate a subject from its background. A JPEG contains a full rectangular image, including its background pixels. Prepare the image first and inspect the resulting paths in your vector editor.
